State Rep. candidate Biela’s across the board  property and state income tax cuts, amounting to about $8,000 for middle class voters

By Jeff Berkowitz

Tonight’s and next Tuesday night’s Chicago metro edition of Public Affairs features State Rep. Candidate Amanda Biela (R-Edgebrook), who is challenging 14 year Democrat incumbent, John D’Amico, in the 15th State House District.

The show airs in 24 suburbs at 8:30 pm on Cable Ch.19.  See, below, for the airing schedule, by suburb and channel.

Tonight’s show features State Rep. candidate Biela discussing with show host Jeff Berkowitz her plans to cut property and state income taxes for middle class voters by about $8000 (and corresponding amounts for higher and lower income voters).  The property tax cut reflects the benefits of “Hard 1% Market Value Property Tax caps,”which Biela favors.

These state and local tax cuts would start, says Biela, to reverse the outflow of population, businesses and jobs from Illinois by making people feel much better about Illinois’ economic outlook and thus keep Illinois’ current and next generation in Illinois.

State Rep. candidate Biela also highlights the extreme distaste many of the 15th State House District voters have for Speaker Mike Madigan’s and State Rep. John D’Amico’s political “Machine,” arguing it is time for the citizens to rid themselves of that anachronistic barrier to the state’s economic progress.

The IL GOP needs to pick up nine seats in the Illinois House to get a majority and boot Speaker Madigan out of his more than 3 decade position of Il House Speaker.

The 15th State House District is viewed by most as a Tier 2 shot for the State GOP.  Candidate Biela is a very presentable and thoughtful candidate, but she is up against, as Biela puts it, a half century family machine that has had a lock on Chicago’s 39th Ward  seat and the 15thDistrict seat. Even indictments have not broken that stranglehold. What else is new. It is the Chicago way!

Finally, Amanda Biela outlines some significant positive reforms to deal with the problems caused by the implosion of State and Local government employee pension costs, including the State’s unfunded 130 billion dollars in pension liabilities.
