Amanda Is The Best Choice
About Amanda Biela
Amanda was born on June 21, 1976 in Bloomington, Indiana where she spent her childhood (as she likes to say Hoosier by birth, Chicagoan by choice).
Amanda graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Illinois College with a degree in History/Political Science.
Shortly after graduation she journeyed to Chicago and became a teacher at Curie Metropolitan High School on the southwest side teaching history, economics and law.
Amanda Can Help!
Quickly following the start of her teaching career Amanda pushed forward earning a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago which she parlayed into a career in social services serving as Program Director for the Washington Park branch of the non-profit Chicago Youth Programs.
Amanda’s passion for public service is just as passionate in her private life. Amanda is active in both the Boy and Girl Scouts playing an vital role as scout leader and mentor.
She serves as a room parent and yearbook advisor for middle school students at Edgebrook Elementary School and is the past president of the Mom’s Club of Northwest Chicagoland. And, of course, is full time wife and mother of three kids!
Amanda has been a resident of the Edgebrook neighborhood for the last ten years where she lives with her husband Michael (a Chicago high school principal) and their three children Theodore (14), Clara (11) and Thomas (9).
The Bielas are members of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Park Ridge and also the Edgebrook Community Association.
